The Society was formed with the following aim:
'To work for a wider recognition and appreciation of Cornish Rex cats by owning, breeding and exhibiting these cats and recognising the role of the Cornish Rex Variant in the development of the breed.'
In other words, we want everyone to love and appreciate these beautiful curly cats. There are already four other clubs catering for Rex cats, but none of these are specifically for the Cornish Rex and Cornish Rex Variants. A group of enthusiastic owners got together and said 'let's do something to promote the Cornish Rex as we feel they are often put to one side in favour of the Devon Rex'. So here we are with our own club.
We appreciate the need for outcrossing to strengthen the lines of the Cornish Rex and so as a Society we would like everyone to help, wherever possible, the few breeders that are able to undertake an outcross programme. This does not mean that we expect everyone to outcross, this is not always possible, but please support those that do. It is often difficult to home the lovely variants that are produced, but with everyone's help life can be a little easier.
We would like to make this Society as friendly and informative as possible, so please feel free to contact us, by writing to the Hon. Secretary, with any views and suggestions you may have. We look forward to seeing this Society grow and this in turn will generate more interest in our wonderful Cornish Rex.
